Cost Accountant

• National equipment manufacturer recently expanded the organization and is hiring for an entry level Cost Accountant
• Company has been in business for 89 years with sales around $2 billion.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare analysis reports, present findings, and recommend changes to company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit based on financial data
• Understand what is impacting the production costs, and identify changes required to more accurately measure costs
• Prepare and provide analysis of cost variances by product, project, machine, etc.
• Conduct cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis
• Work with finance team to review rates of labor, depreciation and overhead to recommend improvements to financial results
• Assist in setting standard costs of manufactured products
• Review costs of business processes such as plant administration, labor, shipping, etc.
• Provide input to monthly financial projections, including potential cost issues that may impact forecasted costs and profitability
• Assist plant employees with ERP system corrections affecting inventory movement
• Track project expenses and assist in proper timing of capitalization
• Maintain accuracy of fixed asset records

Requirements:

• BS/BA in accounting or related field is required
• 0-2 years of Cost Accounting or related accounting work experience
• Sound understanding of accounting principles
• Attention to detail with superb organizational skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with advanced experience in Excel
• Experience with ERP accounting applications is preferred
• Possess outstanding presentation and report-writing skills
• Ability to communicate effectively using excellent written and oral communication skills
